Quality Assurance Services, Inc. (QAS) provides training and testing
for those preparing radiopharmaceutical residual materials for shipment.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Notice #92-72 explains that:
actions by the U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) impact
NRC licensees that prepare radiopharmaceutical residuals for return
to a local nuclear pharmacy; return molybdenum generators or unused
doses to a manufacturer or supplier; return sealed sources such as
flood discs
or reference standards to manufacturers; ship radioactive waste through
brokers; or transport radioactive materials. It may apply to licensees
in Agreement States and licensing states also since it originated
from DOT regulations and most licensing agencies implement and follow
comparable
regulations for compliance.
